How sports massage helps

Sports massage isn't just for athletes. People book in for:

✓ Recovery between training sessions or after events

✓ Muscle tightness and stubborn knots

✓ Neck, shoulder and upper back tension from desk work

✓ Preparing for a race, match or competition

✓ Injury prevention when training load ramps up

✓ General maintenance when your body feels stuck

What to expect at your first session

We'll start with a quick chat about what's going on. Your training, your work, where you're feeling it, and what you want from the session. Then the treatment itself, adjusted to the pressure that works for you: effective doesn't have to mean eye-watering.

You'll leave with advice on what we found and what to do between sessions. If we think what you actually need is physiotherapy rather than massage, we'll say so.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between sports massage and physiotherapy?
Sports massage focuses on treating muscle tension, aiding recovery and keeping you moving well. Physiotherapy diagnoses and treats the underlying cause of pain or injury with a structured rehab plan. If you're in pain and don't know why, start with physiotherapy. If you know your body and want hands-on maintenance or recovery, sports massage is the fit. We offer both, and we'll tell you honestly which one you need.
Do I need to be an athlete to book a sports massage?
Not at all. Many of our clients are desk workers, new parents and people who just carry tension. The techniques come from sport; the benefits don't require one.
How often should I get a sports massage?
It depends on your training and your body. People in heavy training blocks often come every 1–2 weeks; for general maintenance, every 4–6 weeks is common. We'll give you an honest recommendation rather than a subscription pitch.
Will I be sore afterwards?
You might feel a little tender for 24–48 hours after deeper work, similar to post-workout soreness. Drink water, keep gently moving, and it settles quickly. We always work within pressure you're comfortable with.
